Frequently asked questions
Want to know what Memeboard is, how to set it up, customise it, or suggest new features? All that and more below.
What is Memeboard?
Memeboard is a Twitch extension - think of it like an app you can install directly in to your Twitch profile to enhance your stream in some cool or creative way.
Specifically, Memeboard provides a panel that your viewers interact with directly on Twitch (desktop and mobile supported) to play unique gaming and internet culture animations overlaid on your stream.
Viewers do this by exchanging Bits - Twitch's on-platform currency - earning you money, increasing engagement, and improvnig the overall creativity of your stream all at the same time.
Who can use Memeboard?
Memeboard is a monetized Twitch extension, meaning only affiliate and partner streamers can install it. Any viewer, anywhere in the world, on any device* (desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile) can use their Bits on a streamer's Memeboard as long as they're using the offical Twitch app or website.
* Apple device support coming soon.
How do I install Memeboard?
Just search for Memeboard on the Twitch extensions browser and click "Add", or go directly to the Memeboard extension page and click "Install" in the top right.
Once installed, be sure to click "Activate" and choose to use Memeboard as a component (a overlay on the stream on desktop) or panel (a box that appears underneath the stream, and what we recommend).
Now that Memeboard is activated, go to its configuration page (which you may already be on after the above steps, otherwise click your profile icon in the top right of Twitch > Creator Dashboard > Extensions > My Extensions, then click the cog icon for Memeboard) and copy "Your Memeboard URL" and place it in a browser source in your streaming software on every scene you want Memeboard to be active.
You should now see a green "Your Memeboard is online" on the config page and, if so, you're ready to go!
You might also want to edit some settings on this page, such as enabling and disabling memes you do or don't want your viewers to be able to play on your stream and setting prices you think are appropriate.
How do I position an animation over my webcam instead of full screen?
Go to the Memeboard extension configuration page on Twitch (click your profile icon in the top right > Creator Dashboard > Extensions > My Extensions, then click the cog icon for Memeboard). Scroll thorough the list to find the animation you want to reposition and click "Customise" to expand the settings.
In here you can now specify the left offset percent (0% being the left edge, 50% is the center of the screen, and 100% is the right edge), the top offset percent (0% being the top edge, 50% is the center of the screen, and 100% is the bottom). You can also change the scale - 100% is default, then anything less than that is smaller and anything more than 100% is bigger.
You can click the purple "Play" button as many times as you want to test your changes without locking anything in, then once you are happy just click the "Save" button that appears at the bottom of the window and the next time someone redeems this meme it will now use your new settings.
How do I pause Memeboard?
Memeboard automatically pauses and queues memes when Your Memeboard URL is not detected, and when it is not visible or in an active scene in OBS.
So, if you want to pause Memeboard every time you are on your full webcam scene for example, just make sure the browser source isn't added to that scene.
If you want to pause Memeboard any time you are in a tense moment in game or any other reason, set up a keybind (or Stream Deck button, etc) to simply toggle the visiblity of Memeboard until you're ready to toggle it back on.
Once the scene or source containing your Memeboard browser source is visible again, any queued animations or sound alerts will start playing through in the order they were redeemed.
Can I add a custom animation or sound alert?
Memeboard doesn't currently support adding custom animations or sound alerts, but it's definitely on our roadmap. Keep an eye on the config page in Twitch and our socials for any updates regarding this and other new features.
Is this related to Memeboard in Streamlabs Desktop?
Yes and no! Both are made by the same person (Casperr), so they have a lot in common, but ultimately the work pretty differently. You can of course choose to use both, with the Streamlabs Desktop version having the ability to set keybinds directly in Streamlabs Desktop to trigger memes as a streamer, and then the Twitch extension version of course having full viewer interactivity as an option.
How often are new memes added?
We don't add new memes on a set schedule, but over time the library of animations and sound alerts will continuously grow. Keep an eye on the extension configuration page to see when new memes are available.
Any plans for a leaderboard to show off a channel's most dedicated memers?
Yes! A leaderboard will be added in Memeboard's first major update after release showing weekly, monthly and all time viewers who have redeemed the most memes, and also which memes are most popular amonngst your audience.
